Rare solar eclipse provides amazing view of the sun

Written By: David T. Lee - Sep• 02•17

Last Monday (August 21st, 2017), a total solar eclipse passed over the continental US for the first time in nearly 100 years! Although I could only see a partial eclipse from my location in New England, it was still an amazing experience watching the moon slowly cover the sun. I used a pinhole projector to view the eclipse: it works by passing the sun’s light through a tiny hole and bouncing it off a piece of white paper. With a pinhole projector, I could view the eclipse without looking at it directly (which is very dangerous).

In seven years, another total eclipse will cross the continental US. This time, it will cross over New England as well!
